The Durham-based business currently services 200 jobs monthly on sites across the UK, Ireland and Europe. It repairs and maintains tools and machinery such as drills, to more complex equipment costing upwards of £150,000. The RFID system has switched Izumi’s system from paper-based to a digital format. This enables inspection certificates to be issued within minutes, down from two or three days. Clients can also access the system and view images of the equipment before and after servicing has taken place. Jenny Williams, managing director of Izumi Products, comments: ‘Working from tablets in the field has helped with accuracy, speed and efficiency for clients. It has also led to greater innovation in the way we run the business. Certificates are better presented, without any blemishes. They can be accessed on site and are with clients without delay. ‘We are also reducing our carbon footprint and improving our administrative system by using RFID. It is a system which will grow with the requirements of the business and we are already planning a new scheduling function to streamline our operations further this year.’ Munzi Ali, technical director at CoreRFID, comments: ‘Every business is different and many want a system which fits their specific needs and plans rather than an off the shelf product. We are able to provide a collaborative approach to clients’ projects which makes a real difference to their operations, customer service and profitability.’ Since forming in 2007, CoreRFID has built a global client base of over a 1,000 companies globally including VP Hire Station, Weir Minerals, ICL and BAE Systems. www.corerfid.com www.izumi-products.co.uk
